William K. “Bill” Greenwood, Jr.

William K. Greenwood Jr. age 68, went home to meet his Lord and Savior on June 30, 2022. Born and raised in NJ, a 37 year resident of Alloway Twp. NJ, Bill leaves behind his loving wife of 45 years, Deborah (Rathbone), 3 children, Bill (Colleen), Melissa DeHart (John), Erik (Kelly), and 12 grandchildren.
Bill was the eldest of 6, Kyle Gattuso (Dan), Susan Henderson (Rich), Mallette Greenwood and Grant (Geraldine). Predeceased by his parents, William Sr. and May (Amey), brother, Steven, and son-in-law, Andrew Franklin.
Bill joined the Army in 1971. During his 6 years of service he was deployed to Korea. Later he served in the DE National Guard for 30 years, where he achieved the rank of 1SG. His service included deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. He retired from the County of Salem as the Assistant Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds.
Bill was a hard worker who loved and provided well for his family. He could be found on the sports fields or in the back yard playing catch. As his sons raised their own families, he enjoyed watching sports together via text. Through the years he was involved with his church and community, including Hardingville Bible Church, FFBC, IBFC, Ruritan, Alloway Youth League coach, Boy Scouts, Alloway Planning Board, Alloway Twp School Board, Alloway Republican Club, VFW, and Dividing Creek Deer Club. In retirement he enjoyed rough housing with his grandkids and sharing the love of God with them, traveling the country and snowbirding in FL with Deb, and hunting with his sons and friends in the Pine Barrens.
Bill will be greatly missed as a loving husband, caring father, fun loving Poppop and faithful friend.
Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon on Wednesday, July 6th in the Hardingville Bible Church, 979 Whig Lane, Monroeville, NJ 08343, where friends are invited to visit from 10 AM until the time of service. Burial will follow the funeral service in the Salem County War Veterans Cemetery in Pilesgrove. In Iieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Tri-State Bible Camp in Montague, NJ or Hardingville Bible Church. Please visit htlayton.com to leave a note of condolence to his family.
