W. Bradford Cox, Jr.

W. Bradford Cox, Jr., age 96 of Pennsville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at Southgate Nursing Home where he had been a resident since January.

Mr. Cox was born in Cambridge, MD, on September 23, 1921, to Jennie & W. Bradford Cox, Sr. He served in the US Navy during WWII from 1941 to 1945, serving on the USS Cod in Submarine service. He was employed as a machinist and mechanic for DuPont Chambers Works for over 39 years. A workaholic, he was a “jack of all trades” and could fix anything. He was an antique car buff, enjoying his many cars over the years.

Mr. Cox was predeceased by his wife of 73 years, Ruth (DeVelbis) Cox, in May of 2017; his brothers, Clinton and Ted, and his sister, Mary. He is survived by his son, William B. Cox, III (& Nancy); his daughter, Sharon C. Wright (& Alan); his granddaughters, Cathy Smith (& Jesse) and Amy Wright (& Mike); his great-grandson, Lucas Bradford Smith; his sister, Sylvia White; his sister-in-law, Anne Cox, and his brother-in-law, Benjamin McLaughlin.

A graveside service in the committal pavilion with military honors will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, October 21st in the Salem County War Veterans Cemetery, Rt. 45, Pilesgrove. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Cox’s memory may be made to Meals on Wheels of Salem County, 90 Market St., Salem, NJ 08079.
