It is with great sadness that the family of Deven Kent Lopez announces his passing after a long fought battle with cancer, on Sunday, October 22, 2017, at the age of 56 years. Deven was just 16 years old when he started his career as a carpenter. He worked for the New Jersey Carpenter’s Union for 30+ years. He was the local handyman and no job was too small. Deven was always willing to help anyone in need. He was generous with his time and effort. He was an artist and a master at his craft. Deven was known for showing up in work clothes, work boots and paint stained hands. He was a hard working man, right till the very end. Deven will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Barbara Ann and their children Devon (Chris), Jeri (Richard), Gregory (Emily), Joey (Leanne), Sarah, and Steven (Alyssa). Deven will be forever remembered by his four grandchildren, Andrew, Chloe, Nicholas, and Owen. He will be greatly missed by his loving dog, Zoey. He is also survived by his five brothers and six sisters. He will be fondly thought of by his in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd C. Watkins, Ms. Alfrieda Leone, Ms. Charlotte Langon, and Ms. Janet Langon Deven was predeceased by his parents, Howard and Marion Lopez. Friends are invited to visit his family in the H.T. Layton Funeral Home, 102 S. Main St., Woodstown, from 4 PM until 5 PM on Sunday, October 29th. A memorial service will begin at 5 PM. Burial will be private.
