Deven K. Lopez

It​ ​is​ ​with​ ​great​ ​sadness​ ​that​ ​the​ ​family​ ​of​ ​Deven​ ​Kent​ ​Lopez​ ​announces​ ​his​ ​passing​ ​after​ ​a​ ​long fought​ ​battle​ ​with​ ​cancer,​ ​on​ ​Sunday,​ ​October​ ​22,​ ​2017,​ ​at​ ​the​ ​age​ ​of​ ​56​ ​years.​ ​Deven​ ​was​ ​just 16​ ​years​ ​old​ ​when​ ​he​ ​started​ ​his​ ​career​ ​as​ ​a​ ​carpenter.​ ​He​ ​worked​ ​for​ ​the​ ​New​ ​Jersey Carpenter’s​ ​Union​ ​for​ ​30+​ ​years.​ ​He​ ​was​ ​the​ ​local​ ​handyman​ ​and​ ​no​ ​job​ ​was​ ​too​ ​small.​ ​Deven was​ ​always​ ​willing​ ​to​ ​help​ ​anyone​ ​in​ ​need.​ ​He​ ​was​ ​generous​ ​with​ ​his​ ​time​ ​and​ ​effort.​ ​He​ ​was​ ​an artist​ ​and​ ​a​ ​master​ ​at​ ​his​ ​craft.​ ​Deven​ ​was​ ​known​ ​for​ ​showing​ ​up​ ​in​ ​work​ ​clothes,​ ​work​ ​boots and​ ​paint​ ​stained​ ​hands.​ ​​ ​He​ ​was​ ​a​ ​hard​ ​working​ ​man,​ ​right​ ​till​ ​the​ ​very​ ​end.​ ​​ ​Deven​ ​will​ ​be lovingly​ ​remembered​ ​by​ ​his​ ​wife,​ ​Barbara​ ​​ ​Ann​ ​and​ ​their​ ​children​ ​Devon​ ​(Chris),​ ​Jeri​ ​(Richard), Gregory​ ​(Emily),​ ​Joey​ ​(Leanne),​ ​Sarah,​ ​and​ ​Steven​ ​(Alyssa).​ ​Deven​ ​will​ ​​ ​be​ ​forever remembered​ ​by​ ​his​ ​four​ ​grandchildren,​ ​Andrew,​ ​Chloe,​ ​Nicholas,​ ​and​ ​Owen.​ ​He​ ​will​ ​be​ ​greatly missed​ ​by​ ​his​ ​loving​ ​dog,​ ​Zoey.​ ​​ ​He​ ​is​ ​also​ ​survived​ ​by​ ​his​ ​five​ ​brothers​ ​and​ ​six​ ​sisters.​ ​He​ ​will be​ ​fondly​ ​thought​ ​of​ ​by​ ​his​ ​in-laws,​ ​Mr.​ ​and​ ​Mrs.​ ​Lloyd​ ​C.​ ​Watkins,​ ​Ms.​ ​Alfrieda​ ​Leone,​ ​Ms. Charlotte​ ​Langon,​ ​and​ ​Ms.​ ​Janet​ ​Langon​ ​​ ​​ ​Deven​ ​was​ ​predeceased​ ​by​ ​his​ ​parents,​ ​Howard​ ​and Marion​ ​Lopez.  Friends are invited to visit his family in the H.T. Layton Funeral Home, 102 S. Main St., Woodstown, from 4 PM until 5 PM on Sunday, October 29th.  A memorial service will begin at 5 PM.  Burial will be private.
