M. Arthur Peterson, age 93 of Alloway, died Saturday, May 7, 2016, in his son’s home in Griffin, GA.

Born in Salem, son of the late Thomas L. & Olive (Harris) Peterson, Arthur was a 1940 graduate of Salem High School. He was a self employed dairy farmer for his entire adult life. He owned and operated Deep Run Farm in Alloway for 69 years, where he enjoyed the many years of labor alongside his family. He also enjoyed gardening and woodworking in his later years, especially making wheelbarrows. “Pop” was one of the kindest men and was loved by everyone.

Arthur is survived by his son & daughter-in-law, K. Dale & Martha; his daughter & son-in-law, Cheryl P. & Fred Marron; his daughter-in-law, Diane Peterson; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Mary (English), in July of 2013; his son, William A. Peterson, in June of 2014; four brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, May 13th in the H.T. Layton Funeral Home, 102 S. Main St., Woodstown, where friends are invited to visit from 10 AM until the time of service. Burial will be in Friesburg Lutheran Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Alloway Ambulance, PO Box 123, Alloway, NJ 08001, or to Alloway Fire Company, PO Box 644, Alloway, NJ 08001.
