Harold “Hal” Dolbow Sr.

Harold B. Dolbow, Sr., age 75 of Carneys Point, died Wednesday, January 31, 2024, in Inspira Hospital in Mannington.

Born in Salem, son of the late Wayne John Sr. & Barbara Olive (Foster) Dolbow, Hal was raised in Pennsville.  He was a graduate of Pennsville Memorial High School and was a US Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam War.  He had worked at DuPont Chambers Works from the age of 18 until his retirement after over 30 years of service.  He married Marsha (nee Attix) on April 20, 1972.

Hal enjoyed watching Pennsville High School baseball, softball, and wrestling.  He also enjoyed reading, collecting rare coins, and watching college football.  He spent time with his family and friends going out to dinner, vacationing, and making day trips to Lancaster.  An avid bowler, he once bowled a perfect game.  He loved Star Wars, the movies and the books.  Donuts at the Amish Market were a favorite of his.  He enjoyed watching drag racing at Atco Raceway.

Hal is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marsha, his son, Harold Jr.; his daughter & son-in-law, Kristen & John Pelura; his first cousins, Rosemary Cowan, Patricia DiSantis, Cherry Bertles, and Sharon Peden; his brothers-in-law, Gary Attix(Susie) and Timothy Attix; his sister-in-law, Tammy Catalano(Michael); and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Robert and Wayne John.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11 AM on Friday, February 9th in the Salem County War Veterans Cemetery, Rt. 45, Pilesgrove.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Hal’s memory to the United Service Organization (USO), PO Box 96860, Washington, DC, 20077-7677, uso.org   or to the Salem County Humane Society, 214 Game Creek Rd., Penns Grove, NJ, 08069,   salemcountyhumanesociety.org
