Edward W. Hiles, Sr.

Edward W. Hiles, Sr., age 57 of Carneys Point, formerly of Sharptown, went to meet his wife in Heaven on Saturday, April 10, 2021 in Inspira Hospital Vineland.

Born in Mannington and raised in Sharptown, he was the son of Judith Simpkins Hiles Riegel and the late Edward Charles Hiles.  Ed attended Woodstown High School and worked for over 30 years at Salmon Signs in Pitman.  He had volunteered for Reliance Fire Company and had been a member and past president of the S.J. Antique Tractor Pullers Association.  He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, was an excellent handyman, liked the Eagles and NASCAR, and cared about his mom’s pets, including Gerty the Guinea Hen and her Border collie, Sunny-D.

Ed is survived by his son, Edward W. Hiles, Jr. & fiancée, Samantha Gray; his daughter, Crystal L. Hiles and fiancé, Michael Davis, Sr.; his grandchildren, Hunter, Ayden, Azzy, Savannah, Michael Jr., Paisley, and Waylon; his mother, Judith Simpkins Riegel; and his sister & brother-in-law, Sherri & Bill May.  In addition to his father, Ed was predeceased by his daughter-in-law, April L. Hiles in January of 2017 and his stepfather, Howard K. Riegel in April of 2018.

A memorial service will be held at 7 PM on Thursday, April 15th in the H.T. Layton Funeral Home, 102 S. Main St., Woodstown, where friends are invited to visit from 6 PM until the time of service.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ed’s memory may be made to Meals on Wheels of Salem County, 90 Market St., Salem, NJ 08079.  Please visit htlayton.com to leave a note of condolence to Ed’s family.  Arrangements are by the H.T.
