William S. Vanaman

William S. Vanaman age 82 of Upper Pittsgrove Twp., NJ passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 27 after a long illness with his loving wife at his side.

Born and raised in Salem he was the son of the late Melvin and Kay Vanaman.

William attended schools in Salem, was honorable discharged from the United States Marine Corps and was employed at Mannington Mills.

He was also employed for over 20 years as a patrolman for Salem City retiring in 1985, then became Chief of Security at Salem Memorial Hospital and retired as Plant Operation Manager.

He enjoyed fishing, baseball, WWF, and was an avid Eagles and Phillies fan.

William is survived by his wife, Susan (Zane) Vanaman, three sons; William Vanaman, Edward (Shermayne) Vanaman, Anthony (Debbie) Vanaman, six grandchildren, and many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, one sister, Diane Harris and Father-in-law Milton Zane.

In addition to his parents he was pre-deceased by his brother and his wife, Melvin (Elaine) Vanaman, nephew, David Harris and his mother-in-law, Beatrice Zane.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 2, 2021 at 12 noon in H.T. Layton Funeral Home, 102 South Main Street, Woodstown, NJ. A viewing will be held on Friday morning from 10am to 12pm at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in Lawnside Cemetery, Pilesgrove, NJ.
