Richard D. Rieck

Richard D. Rieck, age 72 of Alloway, died Thursday, March 15, 2018, in his home with his family by his side.

Born in Salem, son of the late Walter J. Sr. & Clara Meyer Rieck, Richard attended Woodstown High School. He farmed his entire life and also owned and operated his excavating business since the early 70’s, often with the assistance of his lifelong friend, Carson Lockman.  Aside from his love of farming, he was a fan of local dirt track stock car racing, especially Bridgeport Speedway, and he enjoyed snowmobiling. Richard was known by all as a generous, loyal, salt-of-the-earth sort of man who truly enjoyed a good laugh. He was often seen with his border collie and loyal companion, “Hound.”

Richard is survived by his daughter & son-in-law, Nancy & Michael Mills; his son & daughter-in-law, Eddie & Deanne Rieck; his daughter, Helen Rieck; twelve grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, his brother, Walter J. Rieck, Jr.; his sister & brother-in-law, Ruth & Jim Ewing; three nieces and one nephew. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Zelda (Page) Rieck in September of 2006; his daughter, Barbara Ann Scheese; his nephew, David Ewing; and his sister-in-law, Virginia Rieck.
