Ellen Kay Homan

homan squareEllen Kay Homan, age 61 of Penns Grove, joined the angels in heaven on Thursday, June 15th 2023. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother (affectionately called Grr).

Ellen was born on August 31, 1961 to the late John R. Zeigler Sr. and Betty Zeigler. She was raised in Pennsville, NJ.

She married her soulmate, Jay Homan, in 1982. They shared 40 wonderful years raising their family together in Penns Grove, NJ.

Ellen has always been creative; working as a seamstress, selling custom crafts and most recently honing her skills as a painter.

Ellen created beauty in everything. She could transform a space with her decorating skills, especially Christmas trees and a notable Santa collection. She showcased her whimsical style through carefully chosen antiques. Ellen created an oasis in her backyard (the Homan retreat) where she enjoyed swimming, a bonfire or a walk through her vast garden. She made sure everyone knew to “make yourself at home.”

She enjoyed a big cup of coffee on her swing in the morning and an evening filled with laughter and a good card game of rummy, which she would undoubtedly win.

Ellen devoted her life to cultivating love and joy. Her infectious laugh and dazzling smile will be sorely missed, but her spirit will live on in the lives of all those blessed to know/love her.

Ellen is survived by her husband, Jay Homan; her son, John Homan; her daughter, Felicia (Christian) Roman; and her adored grandson, Nico Roman, as well as many other loving family and friends.

Private graveside services will be held at Lawnside cemetery on Thursday, June 22, 2023.
