Don Richard Dunner, Sr.

Don “Pop” Dunner lived life to its fullest. He was the true definition of a “family man.” Pop loved his wife (deceased, Dottie) of 47 years, his two sons; Don (Elaine) and Dave (Beth). His grandchildren were his pride and joy – Donny, Kelsey and Jessica.

Pop passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 25th in his Pilesgrove home – and his family is blessed in knowing his last day was full of joy – woodworking and selflessly assisting others with their home projects.

Pop is survived by a wife of two years, Linda; his sister, Doris Sareyka and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Charles Dunner and Rick Lewis. He was the son of Edith and Charles Dunner, Sr. and grew up in Woodbury.

Pop retired from DuPont as a supervisor with 25 years of service. He fully embraced the philosophy, “there’s no such thing as problems – only challenges and opportunities.” There was never a time Pop wouldn’t jump in and help, even the jobs no one else wanted to do. He also retired from Salem County Vocational and Technical School as the Director of Facilities. He filled his final days working as a contractor for Siemens. He loved to be busy and keep his mind occupied.

His hobbies included square dancing in his early years, spending time with friends playing cards, being at the beach with his family and any mechanical challenge you could give him.

Friends and family are welcome to a viewing at Sharptown Methodist Church, 24 Church St., Pilesgrove, on Thursday, March 30 between 6:00 – 8:00 p.m and at 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 31. Funeral services will immediately follow. Pop will be laid to rest at Lawnside Cemetery in Woodstown.
