Jeffrey W. Mortimer, Jr.

Jeffrey W. Mortimer, Jr., age 55 of Pilesgrove, died Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at Seasons Hospice in Christiana Hospital. Born in Mannington, he was the son of Jeffrey W. Sr. & Kathleen (Crawford) Mortimer. Jeff was a 1980 graduate of Woodstown High School and a 1984 graduate of Salisbury University in MD. He started a career in videography and worked as a research technician for DuPont Experimental Station in Delaware, serving for 29 years. Among his many community involvements, he served on the Woodstown-Pilesgrove Board of Education, coached many different youth sports, and served many years as the D.J. for the Independence Day fireworks celebration at the rec field and the D.J. and announcer for opening day of Little League. Jeff enjoyed music and electronics, and he enjoyed traveling. He loved his family vacations and videotaping his children. He also had a large group of close friends who he enjoyed spending time with, especially the OBX group.

Jeff is survived by his wife of 32 years, Cheryl (Duffield); his daughter, Melissa; his son & his son’s fiancée, Zach & Hope; his parents, Jeff Sr. & Kathy; his sister & brother-in-law, Nancy & Patrick Faline; his mother-in-law & father-in-law, Penny & Bob Duffield; and his brother-in-law, Bobby (& Betty Jo).

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Monday, March 27th in Sharptown Methodist Church, 24 Church St., Pilesgrove, where friends are invited to visit from 5 to 7 PM on Sunday evening and from 10 to 11 AM on Monday morning. Burial will follow the funeral service in Lawnside Cemetery.
