Charles William Haines

Charles William Haines passed away on Monday, August 22,2016 in Kokomo, Indiana.

He was born on Nov. 20, 1935 to G. Irving and Grace Haines. He married his sweetheart, Shirley, on Nov. 8, 1954 and enjoyed 56 years of marriage until her death in 2011.

He is survived by his daughter, Susan (Tom) of South Carolina and son, Charles, Jr. (Karen) of Indiana; 4 granddaughters, Caroline Kurman, Kristen Hammond (Tucker), Elizabeth Given (Andy), and Jessica Foust (Adam); 5 great grandchildren, Parker, Grayson, and Beckett Foust and Marlowe and Jude Given; 2 brothers, Irving (Josephine) and David (Emily).

Chick grew up in Carney’s Point , NJ and graduated from Penns Grove Regional High where he played basketball for the Red Devils. He also graduated from Rutgers University and started his career with Dupont Chestnut Run. After a move to Toledo , Ohio, he worked as a VP of heavy truck marketing before retiring to Ocean City, NJ.

Chick loved spending time with his family, playing golf, and was an avid fan of the University of Michigan Wolverines. (Go Blue) .He will be remembered for his kindness, quick wit, and love of God and family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Saturday, August 27th in St. Gabriel of the Archangel Parish, 350 Georgetown Rd., Carneys Point, NJ, where friends are invited to visit from 9 AM until the time of Mass. Burial will follow Mass in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Salem, NJ.
