Walter H. Gregory of Elmer, NJ formerly of Woodstown, NJ peacefully passed away on January 11th, 2020 with his family by his side.

He is survived by his high school sweetheart Doris, wife of 69 years, brother Melvin, sister Evelyn Cook, daughter Carolyn ( Dave ) Mortimer, and his sons’ Steven, Ronald, Alan ( Nancy ) Gregory, 10 Grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great Great Grandchild.

As a teenager, Walt worked at Richman’s Ice Cream Plant in Sharptown. After graduating Woodstown High School Class of 1950, he worked at Dupont as a lab technician for 35 years. Following his retirement, Walt continued to work with his sons, who were 4th generation carpenters servicing the Salem County Area.

His love for the open road found he and Doris traveling coast to coast hitting 49 states. Their love for Country Western & Gospel music lead them to many interesting musical venues and countless friendships; including the last 10 years they spent in the Bushnell, Florida area. These adventures inspired his love to make music CD’s and share them with many friends and family.

Walt will fondly be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, and fun to be with Pop Pop. His sense of humor and storytelling will forever be treasured and missed by us all.

Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at Sharptown Methodist Church, 24 Church St. Pilesgrove, NJ Saturday, January 18, 2020 from 1-2pm, with services at 2pm and a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the charity of your choice.
