Robert Hayes, a long-time resident of Woodstown, NJ, passed away peacefully on February 13, at the age of 90.

Bob was born in Bayonne, New Jersey on May 3, 1933.  He attended local schools graduating from Bayonne High School in 1952, where he played on the Group IV State Champion basketball team.  He is a Korean war-time veteran, having served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955.  He and Joan were married on August 13, 1954 in Jersey City, NJ.   Bob and his wife Joan moved to central Jersey in the early 60s to raise their family in Burlington and then Crosswicks, New Jersey.  Bob was an active member of the Bordentown Elks and Woodstown Moose.

Bob enjoyed keeping active.  He was often puttering around the house and became an accomplished bowler, golfer, ballroom dancer and, later in life, an avid snow skier.  Bob worked many different jobs starting at a very early age to help support his large family.  In his early 20s he started working for Public Service Electric and Gas in various roles and ended his 35-year career at the PSE&G Nuclear Training Center in Salem, NJ as a Sr. Welding Instructor.  He will be sorely missed by family and many friends.

A visitation is scheduled for Saturday, February 17 at H. T. Layton Funeral Home in Woodstown, NJ from 10:00 to noon.  Burial will immediately follow at Lawnside Cemetery also in Woodstown.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the name of Robert Hayes to United Methodist Communities at Pitman, 535 North Oak Avenue, Pitman, NJ
