Brian Wilson Gerber

Brian Wilson Gerber, age 42 of Pilesgrove, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 3, 2017 in the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania with his family by his side.

Born in Woodbury, he was the son of Terry L. and Barbara (Garrison) Gerber. Brian was a 1992 graduate of Woodstown High School. He earned a certificate in Graphic Art from Gloucester County College. Photography was his passion. Brian exhibited his photography at the Gallery 50 student show, a Christmas show, and Through Our Eyes A Photographic Vision Show in Bridgeton, NJ . He also exhibited at Beans Coffee Shop in Woodstown and was a featured artist there for the Salem County Art League. He also participated in the Creativity Expo at the Art Gallery for brain injured artist at Raritan Valley Community College in North Branch, NJ. He was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Woodstown and attended Brain Injury Support Groups in Cumberland and Salem Counties. Brian participated in several cancer research studies .

Brian adored his son and enjoyed spending quality time with him. He loved hot air balloon rides, playing pool, watching movies, trips to the Ocean City boardwalk, visiting Civil War battlefields, and making photo greeting cards.

He is survived by his son, Alan C. DesChamps, his parents, Terry and Barbara, his brother, Tim (wife Heather) Gerber, one nephew, Luke Gerber and one niece, Meadow Gerber, his uncles and aunts, John and Sally Garrison, Jimmy and Clare Hightower, and Larry Gerber; his cousins and their children, Glenn (wife Carolyn) Garrison, Matthew (wife, Qin) Garrison, Jennifer Gerber, Kelli (husband, Cliff) Pelter, and Jason (wife, Sonja) Gerber. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, R. Wilson and Clara M. Garrison, paternal grandparents, Lawrence and June Gerber, cousin Beverly Hightower, and Aunt Betsi Gerber.

A memorial service will be held at 4 PM on Saturday, May 13th in the H.T. Layton Funeral Home, 102 S. Main St., Woodstown, where friends are invited to visit from 2 PM until the time of service. Burial will be in Chestnut Grove Cemetery in Elmer, following the service.
