Shirley A. Conley

Shirley A. (Duffy) Conley of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully in her sleep Monday, December 18, 2017. Prior to moving to Delaware in 2003, Shirley had made her lifelong residence in Harrisonville, NJ. She served on the South Harrison Twp. Board of Education and was the chairperson of the Parks and Recreation Committee, establishing Stewart Memorial Park in 1976.

Shirley was the organist at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Woodstown NJ for 32 years. She also participated in the Ulster Project Delaware, bringing teenagers to the U.S. to promote peace in Northern Ireland. For the past three years, she served as the President of the Residents Council at Hillside Health Center. Shirley also mentored first-time cancer victims after suffering two bouts of cancer herself.

Shirley was the Agency Administrator for Harry David Zutz Insurance, Wilmington, DE, from 1961 to 1986. She also worked for American Express from 1986 to 1996, Fulton Financial from 1996 to 2000, and also at St. Francis Hospital.

She is survived by her four children: Sheryl Lam, Michael Conley, Dennis Conley and Kian Conley; Grandchildren: Theresa, Tom, Craig, Chase, Jackson, and Alexandra;

Great Grandchildren: Paige, Gianni, and Addison;

Brother: Paul C. Duffy and his wife Diane.

A celebration of life service will be held at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Woodstown, NJ on Saturday, January 13th 1:00 PM.
