Light a CandleRoy G. Flannigan, Jr., age 72 of Cherry Hill, formerly of Alloway, died Saturday, May 20, 2017 in his home with his family by his side. Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Roy Sr. & Grace Ayars Flannigan. Roy was a 1963 graduate of Woodstown High School, where he ran track and beat ’em “every time”. He earned his B.A. at Rutgers University, where he played varsity soccer. A US Army veteran, Roy worked most of his career as a voice system engineer at Core States Bank.

 

Roy enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He traveled across the US, and made several trips abroad. He coached soccer, took his family on camping and biking vacations, and was always seen working on his cars, his house, or helping a friend. Roy loved listening to bluegrass and attending music festivals and concerts. He was a member of an antique cars club and he enjoyed driving his 1926 Chevy in parades and participating in car shows. Roy also spent time doing volunteer work for various charities.

 

Roy is survived by his daughter, Karin F. Pinkstone (Raymond); his son, Kevin P. Flannigan; his sisters, Jean Johnston (Jim) and Bonnie Powell (Bill); his grandchildren, Grace and Valerie; and his dear friend, Marilyn Sharp.

A memorial service will be held at 1 PM on Wednesday, May 31st in the H.T. Layton Funeral Home, 102 S. Main St., Woodstown, where friends are invited to visit from 11 AM until the time of service.
