Raymond G. Sajtlava

Raymond G. Sajtlava, age 85 of Pole Tavern, died Tuesday, December 5, 2017 in Elmer Hospital.

Born in Hoboken, NJ, he was the son of the late Joseph & Theresa (Manetti) Sajtlava. He lived in Union City before relocating to Salem County in 1976 due to his work. Raymond was a supervisor for Crane Valve of Woodbury, overseeing the manufacture of safety valves used on nuclear naval ships. He loved to hunt and fish; he enjoyed life outdoors with his family. He enjoyed both saltwater and freshwater fishing, and he was a talented archer. He also raised and bred German short-haired pointer hunting dogs, and in his later years, he collected new and antique fishing rods and reels. He also was involved in the renovation of the historic, old mill water wheel at Daretown Lake. He was a good husband, father, and friend, strict but fair, and his family succeeded because of his sacrifices.

Raymond is survived by his wife, Mary Grace (nee Dondero); his daughter, Raeann Sajtlava and her former husband, Ted Hults; his sons, Mark & his wife, Angela Sajtlava; and Tom Sajtlava, and his companion, Tracy Funk and her son, Andy; and his grandchildren, Amanda, Cliff, Mark Jr., and Julia. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Joseph.

Services for Raymond will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1851 Old Cuthbert Rd., Cherry Hill, NJ, 08034.
