Naomi A. Magsam

Naomi A. Magsam, age 88 of Salem County and Ellenton, FL passed away on Easter Day, April 16, 2017. Raised in Elsinboro, she was the daughter of the late Thomas J. and Naomi Miller Atkinson. She was the beloved wife of Lewis Magsam, Jr. for 70 years, and the loving mother to Linda Dawson (Rulon “Buddy”) of Swedesboro, Richard Magsam (Mitzi) of Gretna, NE, Lewis Magsam, III (deceased). She was the best grandmom to six grandchildren, Michael, Krista, Claudine, Erica, Alyssa, and Keira and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Abi, of DE and a brother, Russell (Linda) of Quinton, and former daughter-in-law Ingrid of FL.

She was predeceased by siblings Charles, Clifford, Robert, Thomas, and June.

Naomi graduated from Salem High School and was a member of the Quinton Methodist Church. Raising her family in Elsinboro and Quinton, she became very active with the Elsinboro PTA and the Quinton Methodist Church, serving as treasurer for both. She worked a few years for Acton Insurance Agency in Salem. Upon retirement, she and her husband Lewis lived in an RV a couple of years traveling the states before settling in Ellenton, FL for 20 years; returning to NJ in 2011. While living in FL, she served 10 years as a volunteer for the Manatee Hospital in Bradenton.

Naomi was a kind and giving woman and had a special gift of always remembering family and friends with a card or letter, and especially the children. Naomi was a loving and prideful homemaker that also enjoyed music, flowers, gardening, nature and wildlife, cooking and baking. Everyone always came for her variety of pies at holiday times. Coming home from school, there was always the smell of fresh baked goods that were waiting for us.
