At sunset on Monday, January 30, Muriel Huskey, 94, of Pilesgrove, NJ, left us to be among the stars in the heavenly sky to join her beloved husband, Johnnie. She was at her home that she had designed and loved, surrounded by her loving family. Muriel was born in Liberty, NY at the foot of the Appalachian mountains, and grew up in Northern New Jersey. Upon graduating high school and before she married, she was an executive secretary in New York City. Muriel and Johnnie settled in Bergen County to be close to family and raise their children. Muriel later became a manager in a major department store.

Upon retiring, resettling in Pilesgrove fulfilled their dreams of open spaces and farm life. They were soon followed by their children and grandchildren. Muriel loved traveling, the beach, gardening, fishing, crabbing, and camping, but most of all spending time with her family. Everyone was greeted with a smile, nobody was a stranger and friends were treated like family.

Muriel is survived by her daughter, Edel and husband Mark; daughter Eileen and husband Bob; grandchildren Kevin and wife Amy, Kathleen, Sean and wife Jeanaye, and great-grandchildren Rebecca, John, Aidan, Austin, and Arthur.

Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, following her love of children, the family suggests any contributions in her memory be made to Saint Jude Children’s Hospital.
