Margery Carole Skinner

Margery Carole Skinner, age 72 of Pilesgrove, died Saturday, March 11, 2017 in her home with her family by her side. Born in Woodbury, she was the daughter of the late Ulysses Sherman & Marjorie Doris (Geitz) Estilow. Margery was a 1962 graduate of Swedesboro High School, and she received her B.S. from Drexel University in 1967 where she was a member of Varsity Singers and toured Europe with them. She loved teaching elementary education, and retired in 2002 after over 30 years of service. During those years, she taught in Harrison Twp., South Harrison Twp., Friends School of Mullica Hill, and East Greenwich Twp. For her service, she was named Gloucester County Outstanding Teacher in 1998.

Margery is survived by her husband, who she married on June 22, 1968, Leroy W. Skinner; her son & daughter-in-law, David D. & Amy (Buenaflor) Skinner; her daughter & son-in-law, Amy Carole (Skinner) & Michael Thomas Hays; and her sister, Betsy Estilow.

More than anything else, Margery loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a caring, compassionate, and generous person. She enjoyed history and genealogy, especially visiting Colonial Williamsburg, and camping with her family. She was a devoted member of Evangelical United Methodist Church in Clarksboro where she enjoyed singing in the choir.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, March 17th in Evangelical United Methodist Church, 14 West Cohawkin Rd., Clarksboro, NJ 08020. Viewings will be held from 6 to 8 PM on Thursday evening in the H.T. Layton Funeral Home, 102 S. Main St., Woodstown, NJ 08098, and from 10 to 11 AM on Friday morning in Evangelical U.M. Church. Following the funeral service, burial will be in Mullica Hill Friends Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Evangelical United Methodist Church, 14 West Cohawkin Rd., Clarksboro, NJ 08020.
