Elwood “Larry” Rossell

Watch Journey of Remembrance Video TributeElwood “Larry” Rossell, Pilesgrove NJ passed away peacefully at Friends Village, Woodstown on June 17, 2017 at age 83.

Born in Mt. Holly, NJ to Percy and Marcia (Amison) Rossell and raised on a farm in Moorestown, NJ. Larry was always a farmer at heart and was known for bringing baskets of fruits and vegetables to friends and family.

After graduation from Moorestown High School he served 2 years in the U.S. Army before attending Delaware Valley College (now University) in Doylestown, PA where he graduated in 1961 with a degree in Horticulture. Larry pursued a long career in agricultural research, primarily with Campbell Soup Co. and Rutgers Agricultural Research.

He was a member of the Train Collectors’ Association (TCA) for more than 50 years. Larry had a toy train layout everywhere he lived and enjoyed working on the layout and running trains with his buddies.

A blind date arranged by friends, a boat ride on the Rancocas Creek, led to a 54-year marriage to Anne (Harney) Rossell, who survives him. He is also survived by daughter, Vicki E. Rossell, sister-in-law Cathy (Jerry) Serwalt, brother-in-law, Richard (Terri) Harney, nephews and cousins.

Friends may greet the family at H.T. Layton Funeral Home, 102 S. Main St. Woodstown 08098, Thursday June 22 from 6-8 pm. A memorial service will be held at First Moravian Church, 228 E. Washington St. Riverside, NJ 08075, Sunday June 25 at 4 pm. The burial will be private.
