Edythe M. Van Valkenburg, age 80 of Pilesgrove, died Thursday, February 2, 2017, in her home by her husband’s side.

Edythe was the daughter of the late William & Florence (Deets) McClelland. She was a 4-H leader and a Third Star Fiber Guild member. She enjoyed working the family homestead with her husband and cooking large meals for her family, to whom she was devoted.

Edythe is survived by her husband of 40 years, Wayne; her daughters, Linda (& Thomas) Buzby and Debbie (& Bill) Traynor; her sons, Robert (& Mari) Stephens, Dan (& Barb) Stephens, and Gary (& Patricia) Van Valkenburg; eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sons, Cory Stephens and Mark Van Valkenburg.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, February 7th in the H.T. Layton Funeral Home, 102 S. Main St., Woodstown, where friends are invited to visit from 10 AM until the time of service. Burial will be in Lawnside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salem County 4-H Leaders Association, 51 Cheney Rd., Suite 1, Woodstown, NJ 08098.
