Dorothy D. Fisher

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Dorothy Davis Fisher announces her passing after a brief illness, on Sunday March 4, 2018, at the age of 76. She left this world peacefully surrounded by her loved ones in her home in Orangeville, PA.

Dorothy, a former resident of Woodstown and Salem NJ, was born on April 28, 1941 in Salem to Howard Keasbey Davis and Geraldine VanMeter Davis (nee Miffilin). She was a graduate of Salem High School and Goldey Beacom College, which landed her a position as a legal secretary for a law office in Wilmington, DE. Shortly thereafter she met and married George Baxter Fisher on September 21, 1963 and moved into an apartment in Salem. After two years they purchased their beloved home on East Grant Street in Woodstown and later had two daughters; Rachel Davis and Sarah Elizabeth. In addition to their separate careers Baxter and Dottie ran a small antique business, Fisher’s Antiques, doing various shows until they retired on their last Mauricetown show in 2000.

Besides collecting/selling antiques Dottie’s other passions included genealogy, working for the Salem County Historical Society, cooking/baking, going to the theatre, listening to music, being active in her church, watching her favorite TV shows/movies, collecting holiday decorations (especially Christmas & Halloween items), shopping, traveling, going out to eat with her friends & family, entertaining for the holidays, going down to her beach house in Cape May, and spending all the time she could to properly spoil her grandchildren!

She will be lovingly missed by her children and their spouses: Rachel D. Snyder and her husband William D. Snyder of Bloomsburg, PA and Sarah E. Stoklosa and her husband Richard M. Stoklosa of Orangeville, PA. Her Grandchildren: Gage and Lily Piel of Bloomsburg, PA and Emily and Ellie Stoklosa of Orangeville, PA. Her brothers and their spouses: Howard Keasbey Davis, Jr. and Virginia Davis (nee Ritchie) of Salem, NJ, Benjamin Davis and Christine Davis (nee Swienton) of Ludlow, MA, James Davis of Pennsville, NJ, Paul Davis and Pamela Davis (nee Ward) of Quinton, NJ, and William Davis and Dorothy Davis (nee Bauer).
