Barbara Shafer Jarman Hackett

Barbara Shafer Jarman Hackett, age 87 of Pilesgrove, died Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Lindsay Place in Pennsville.

Born in Salem County, she was the daughter of the late Isaac R. & Cecelia (Winthrop) Shafer. Barbara was a 1946 graduate of Woodstown High School, and she attended Salem Community College to become an LPN. She had worked for many years at Salem Hospital and in private duty care. Barbara was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, and she loved yardwork, her flowers, her garden, and her cats. She enjoyed the seashore, especially Cape May Point. More than anything else, she enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and lunches out with them.

Barbara is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Patricia J. & Howard S. Hammel; her son & daughter-in-law, Claude S. “Mike” Jr. and Debbie Jarman; her grandchildren, Howard Jr., Michelle, Katherine, Henry, and William; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Isaac Roy Shafer, Jr. and Robert Shafer; and her sister, Alice Young.

A graveside service will be held at 12 Noon on Wednesday, October 26th in the Pittsgrove Presbyterian Cemetery, 312 Daretown Road in Daretown(Upper Pittsgrove).
