Alice Mae Shivers

Watch Journey of Remembrance Video TributeAlice Mae (Goforth) Shivers, born on December 18, 1927, from Woodstown, NJ, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, November 27, 2017, at the age of 89.

She is predeceased by her husband John Charles in 1993, and sister-in-law Alice Myers in 2014. Surviving are her four sons: Jim (Cookie), Bob (Lori), John (Debbie), and Brian (fiancé Madeleine), and five grandchildren: Jimmy, Stephanie (Mike) Cicalese, CJ, Timothy, Jennifer (Zack) Funk, and her brother Albert Goforth (Jean). She was also loved by many nieces and nephews.

Alice graduated from Woodstown High School in 1945. She worked for Cowtown for over 60 years as secretary and bookkeeper. She also worked at Harold S. Hill and Son Auction. Her claim to fame was bringing the Skillet Throwing Contest to the Salem County Fair. She enjoyed watching the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles and playing cards and dominoes with her loved ones and friends.

She traveled the United States and made it to 49 states. It was her pleasure to make jelly for family and friends for many, many years.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, December 2nd at H.T. Layton Funeral Home, 102 S. Main St. Woodstown, where friends are invited to visit from 9 AM until the time of service.
