Alfred C. Burden, Sr.

Alfred Carlton Burden, Sr., age 90 of Sharptown, died peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 in his home. He leaves behind five children, eleven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and a brother.

Born in Mannington, he was the son of the late William & Laura McGill Burden. He was predeceased by his wife of 71 years, Edna Grace (Kennedy) Burden last December; three brothers and one sister. Mr. Burden was a US Navy veteran of WWII, and he retired from DuPont after 36 years of service as a pipefitter and later as a supervisor. He was a member of Sharptown Methodist Church, enjoyed traveling to Florida with his wife in winter months, and loved spending time with his family.

A private graveside service was held in Sharptown Methodist Cemetery on Saturday, March 18th. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Compassionate Care Hospice for their support in his final days.
